Ames gives us a picture of today's Russia like no other. His writing is engaging and funny as always while genuinely sympathetic to Loginova.
An interesting story of modern Moscow.
A fascinating story. Although I longed for a postcript that would tell us how Anna's mother and son are faring today.
Extremely well written and sad. As gonzo as Ames is he has a heart. It beats for a good story but also for answers. Someday maybe they will come- but probably not. At any rate, this is a quick and engaging read that will make you wanna know more about the real "Putins Russia".
Such an interesting read. I found it to be a real eyeopener to a culture I knew very little about, as well as a page turner that captivated me from start to finish. All I had ever read prior to this about Anna Loginova, were articles found on the internet (that in hindsight), barely provided much other than gossipy hype that told an inaccurate, unbalanced piecemeal portrayal of her life. If you want to really know her story, read this book!
